(1) Linux distros are free! No microsoft validation keys, or phone calls, or recovery disks, or limitations to 1 computer, or pay-outs to just use what you once paid a bundle to get.
(2) Linux is easy to install! Burn a free .iso copy to a disk and put it, or a $2.50 commercial copy, into your CD-drive and click install. Use that disk again and again for as many computers as you like.
(3) Linux is easy to learn to use! Certainly no harder to learn than Windows or Mac. Switching from Windows to Linux has about the same learning curve as Windows XP to Windows 7.
(4) Linux is very stable! The "blue screen of death" familiar to Windows users is not a worry for Linux users.
(5) Linux is less vulnerable to computer malware, spyware, trojans, viruses, and worms! My son has been using Linux systems for over 20 years without such problems, and has never used an anti-anything software on a Linux system.
(6) Linux has no registry to get clogged like windows! So Linux does not slow down over time.
(7) Hard drives with Linux do not need to be defragmented! So information retrieval from hard drives with Linux does not slow down over time.
(8) Linux gives you choices - operating system, desktop, software - all free!
(9) Linux support system is the best, friendliest and fastest in the world! The best geeks in the world made it without pay because they loved doing it, and for the same reason they love helping simple people like you and I to learn their baby.
(10) Today in 2011, Linux hardware compatibility with computers is almost equal to windows, and certainly adequate for 99% of uses.
